The Fragrance of Adventure...

I had this thought while boarding my flight back to Teterboro airport. Actually, It was an economy flight back into JFK, New York City. Either way, I’d rather be biking.

Back to my story. I was expanding more on the idea of, “The Fragrance of Adventure”. It came to mind when I first viewed the new bike bag campaign from Swift Industries. The bike bags sat on a wooden stump pedestal in the forest. They were dimly and dramatically lit. This was one of the best bike bag campaigns I had ever seen, the sexiest of X-pac visions.

I imagined a pine forest, maybe a beautiful cyclist passing me by, and their scent left behind in the air. If adventure had a fragrance, what would it be?

The obvious natural choice maybe frankincense, or even a patchouli. Lord knows these adventure cyclists do smoke a lot of things on occasion. Some even have that Dangle Supply bong thingy strapped to their bikes. That’s not me, but I respect the creativity.

I need the equivalent of Chanel Number 5 on my adventure. That’s because I heat up dehydrated food and imagine it being Ziti at my local Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. I also see mosquito netting as the most fashionable of bike camping wardrobe choices.

So here’s the million dollar question… What is your fragrance of adventure? Or what would your adventure fragrance be? If it existed, like a magical potion that just sets the mood.

Vanilla? Or maybe undertones of Castile peppermint soap? Mmm, I’ve always thought that Natrapel insect repellent smells great after a day in the saddle.

This week, or next, I may ask 3 Bikepacking and Adventure cycling connesuers this question and publish here in my diary.

Best wishes,
